I was importing used saddles for several years from Europe, for resale, and over time, I got more and more emails from people desperately looking for wide saddles to fit their horses ... Haflingers, Fjords, wide Quarter Horses, Fresians, Morgans, etc.

In the summer of 2002, two other things happened. I imported a 36 cm saddle from Germany and we acquired a 36 cm Haflinger! As I rode in the Rondo while retraining Fritz, I noticed that the saddle was just the MOST comfortable saddle I had ridden in, and I won't name all the brands I had by then tried!

I emailed the manufacturer of the saddle and was told that I could purchase his saddles for resale in huge quantities (100-200 at a time)! This manufacturer produces saddles for many distributors in Germany and other parts of Europe; the distributors are marketing to tack shops under various labels.

When I decided to import, I was asked to think up a name (label), and thus: DUETT Duetsche Sattlerei was born!

Therefore, although the name DUETT is new, the saddle manufacturer has been in business for 30 years and is well established in Europe. All the saddles sold by Duett in the US are EXCLUSIVE to Duett and cannot be purchased here from anyone else. In addition, some of the models are designed BY and FOR Duett and cannot be purchased anywhere else in the world.

The key to the comfort of the Rondo and all the other Duett models is the superb design of the seat ... no high pommel, no hard edges under your leg, nice wide platform for your rear end! You really do forget about the saddle and are able to concentrate on your riding. I contacted the manufacturer and the rest is history ... still in the making!
